Support Letters Part 1 of 2

My name is Barry Alexander and I am writing in support of (Gypsy) Oxane Taub’s release from incarceration. She is a good person with an open heart who always made herself available to hear my concerns and offer compassionate advice. Her activism and volunteer efforts were always driven by a strong internal desire to improving the well being and health of the marginalized and underserved communities she served. Please consider those she has helped heal in the past and those who are still in need and would benefit by her immediate release. Respectfully, Barry Alexander

I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Oxane Taub. As a healer and friend, I am extremely delighted to share my observations of this wonderful individual who has touched my life, and stop me from commuting suicide. Oxane has given me the opportunity to find meaning in my life. She has touched my life as she has touched her community. If anything Oxane Taub is a very sincere human being and uplifts those she comes into contact with. Oxane is a very motivated and dedicated person. She has acquired the foundation, skill and knowledge of what it takes to connect and help people regain their life purpose.
In addition to being a caring person of the community she serves, Oxane has an unswerving commitment to her role as a mother. She is active participant in her children’s lives. And is willing to go the extra mile to make sure her kids are taken care of. Oxane has a remarkable ability to work with others and has nothing but love and support from her community. I kindly ask the courts to please give Oxane your fullest consideration and release her. Taking her away would not only be unjust but would be detrimental to her children, her community, and herself for a crime she did not commit.
Oxane is very responsible, and punctual individual she will not be a flight risk. Her desire is to only help others in life.
Sincerely, Arturo Andrade

To Whom it May Concern:
I first met Oxane Taub in the late summer of 2015. I approached her because of a common interest in social and political advocacy. She and I became fast friends, and the more I knew her the greater respect I gained for her care of children. In that summer I frequently met her at Alameda Beach, where she brought not only her three children but often the children of friends and neighbors who had very little means. Some of the kids had never been to a beach before. But she took great care to ensure that they were all safe, well-behaved, and well-fed on those outings. She treated every child with tenderness, careful warnings about dangers, and a very strong rejection of any kind of coercion or violence by herself or others. A lifetime of helping those with little money and great need is the strongest evidence of Oxane’s character and generosity. She holds very strong views and a passion for a better society, but blessed are those who gain her friendship.
Sincerely, Sam Lord 3/10/2021

Dear lawyers!
The news of unjust incarceration of Gypsy (Oxane) Taub was unexpected and disgusting for me. She doesn’t deserve prosecution because she is innocent. In addition to that, I have to say that she is a very kind person. That is clear to me, her friend, to street kids from Mexico she is taking care of. She gives hope and warmth of friendship to many people. Gypsy has to be free!
With hope. Denis Yermak

To whom it may concern.
I would like to make some comments about Oxane (Gypsy) Taub’s character in support of her. I will not comment on the court case against her as I do not know the facts or circumstances.
I have had some online correspondence with Ms. Taub and have read her blog. Admittedly this is not a lot to go on but I have found her one of the most thoughtful and principled people whom I have ever met. She has strong ethical principles which she uses to guide her life.
From the outside she seems somewhat random, a ‘hippy’ in slang terms, but this is, I believe, deceptive. She acts according to principles and with much thought about her actions. It is simply that her principles are alternative to the mainstream, and she is stubbornly, passionately connected to them. Compromise is not one of her strengths and she comes into conflict because of that.
Perhaps most relevant of all to her current circumstances, I have found Ms. Taub to be empathetic and considerate of others. Furthermore, she acts to protect those whom she believes are being wronged. To act with malice of excessive self-interest would seem completely out of character. In any crime she is alleged to have done. I would say that her consideration would always be to people whom she cares about or people to whom she believes wrong is being done.

My name is Gary Brooks. I’ve been acquainted with Oxane “Gypsy” Taub through my attendance at events she has organized since 2018. I’m sending this email as an expression of my support for Ms. Taub, to be used however you may see fit in any future legal proceedings.
Based on conversations I’ve had with her over time, and also on what I know of her through her writings on behalf of her favorite causes, I have trouble believing that there could be any substance to the charges Ms. Taub faces at this time.
I’ve always known her to be fiercely committed to bettering the human condition, from working to free people from self-generated shame, to her work with her Jerry Garcia clinic, dedicated to helping young people to quit their use of harmful drugs.
In my opinion, Oxane “Gypsy” Taub does not represent a flight risk, and should be allowed a chance to raise a reasonable bail amount so that she can rejoin her three children, who are being deprived of their mother’s presence at home at ages where it has to be devastating for them to endure. Please feel free to contact me if there’s a need for any further information.
Sincerely, Gary Brooks
