Here are some photos from the Body Freedom contingent in the Gay Pride Parade of 2014:
Dear body freedom supporters,
We are going to have our own contingent at the Gay Pride Parade this Sunday, the Body Freedom Contingent.
Everyone who is willing to be fully nude is welcome to join our contingent.
Here are the DETAILS:
Our Line-Up Number: 188
Assembly Area Location: P1 – Main between Howard & Folsom – West Side
Contingent Should Be in Place by: 11:45 AM
We are going to march in a line (left to right) to be visible to the crowd. It is really important to follow this rule because last year we had problems with some people who purposely didn’t. We look way better and our message is way more clear when we are all visible and look like a group rather than random people in a disorderly crowd. If you really want to stand out and be in the center of attention please book your own contingent.
We ask that you wear minimal decoration and have as much of your body exposed as possible. Full frontal nudity is required to be in the contingent. Topless is not nude and takes away from our message. In fact, it kind of send the opposite message.
Please remember to bring sunscreen, water and comfortable shoes.
Parking is going to be a nightmare. Please use public transportation.
Nudity is absolutely legal at a city-permitted parade according to the Wiener legislation. Last year we marched nude and saw a ton of cops, and nothing happened to us.
I don’t think the SFPD has the nerve to fuck with our contingent. It’s one thing to arrest a lone nudist when no one is looking, it’s another thing to arrest a whole parade contingent in front of the whole city, and then to have it exposed in many news reports. It IS against the law to arrest us at a parade.
If the SFPD chooses to cite even though it’s against the law, they always give a 5 minute warning and let you get dressed. If you don’t get dressed and get cited dismissing the citation is not hard but you need to show up for court twice and if you live far away it can be a pain in the ass, so get dressed during the 5 minute warning (all you need to do is cover your genitals, not your butt and not your breasts – those are legal any time anywhere in the City.
If you have any questions before the parade please email me.
I hope to see you Sunday!
Naked hugs,
Gypsy
